We’ve been paying a lot of attention to the Sanctuary City conversation, so I’m pleased to announce that as Immigration Vice Chair and Chair of the New Orleans Bar Association, Leah Spivey and I have organized an upcoming immigration CLE, “What Does it Mean to be New Orleans?”
On Wednesday, June 21, Zach Butterworth, Executive Counsel and Director of Federal Affairs for Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s office will talk about “New Orleans’ role in the Sanctuary Cities debate. How did New Orleans gain its reputation as a sanctuary city and what does that mean? We will focus on factors unique to New Orleans that led the city to form its current policy and how that could impact the city in the years ahead.”
The CLE will take place at noon at the Bar Association Office (650 Poydras St., Suite 1505). To register, call NOBA at (504) 525-7453 or email Morgan Ellis Couvillion at mellis@neworleansbar.org. NOBA members can pay online.
