Accounts of ICE raids are becoming common around the country, and there are stories of recent ICE activities in Orleans and Jefferson parishes. So far though, fears of a mass raid appear to be overblown.
These days though, all immigrants—legal and those without status—need to know what to do if caught up in a sweep by ICE. A lot of bad consequences can result from making the wrong decision. First and most importantly, do not open the door unless there’s a judge-signed warrant, maintain silence, and never show any passport or ID from the country-of-origin.
